Today’s 250-strong celebration in St. Petersburg of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia was Russia’s largest LGBT rally ever, according to Queer Russia and Coming Out. The event was peaceful, benefiting from growing support from the police. As Coming Out activist Polina Andrianova said, “If last year the police did their job but their homophobia was clear, this year we felt we had a true ally.” The two LGBTI rights groups’ report is below.
